The following are descriptions of presentations and workshops that Mary provides. Titles can be given separately or combined to suit the needs of a school, organization, or group. Other titles may be used to fit the audience and event.
“Surviving the Internal Politics Within the School and Other Challenges”
- Look at political quagmires that occur in schools
- Improve team communication
- Locate "hidden minefields" in your school
- Learn to deal with difficult personality types

- Review considerations for retirement readiness.
- Consider ways to leave without regret.
- Envision your future beyond your current job.
"Self-Care to Keep You There"
- Determine the stressors unique to your job and or life situation.
- Learn the effects of stress as well as stress protectors.
- Take part in opportunities for reflection and development of a personally effective self-care plan.
"Networking for Support"
- Identify personal and job-related stressors.
- Realize job and personal support network on three levels.
- Building/immediate site/daily contacts.
- District/beyond site.
- Outside district/work system.
- Consider the value of support and ways to get it.
"Self-Care from the Inside Out"
- Review 8 ways to manage stress starting from within. This session addresses attitude, affirmations, self talk, humor, journaling, creativity, spirituality, and solitude.
"Mind Adventures: Personal Development as a Way to Beat Stress"
- Consider obstacles to personal learning and development.
- Explore ways to exchange stress for self development.
- Learn how to enhance job performance through outside personal interests.
School Keynote: "Creating a Culture of Respect"
- 7 Points using the acrostic R-E-S-P-E-C-T to build a vision for a respectful school culture which includes both staff and students.
Raising the bar for students and staff. Environment. Support. Power. Energy and balance. Communication. Time for Reflection.
"Parallel Professionals: Working Effectively within the Teacher-Paraprofessional Relationship"
- Name challenges experienced in the teacher/paraprofessional work team.
- Consider concrete suggestions to improve function of the educational team.
Keynote for parents of children with special needs - "Building Connections with Family / School / Community"
- Affirms and challenges parents of children with special needs to be beneficial at home, advocates and effective team members at school and assets to their communities.
Workshop for parents of children with special needs - " Note to Parents of Children with Special Needs: Take Care of Yourselves"
- Take the opportunity for small group and personal reflection on stresses and challenges of parenting children with special needs relative to school, home, society and personal / internal stresses.
Working with Cross-categorical Groups:
- Review disability definitions and teaching strategies for each.
- Learn a system to ID elements of a lesson to match each unique child based on these definitions and strategies.
