***************************************************************************** 5 Ways to Achieve Power Relaxation: Possibilities for Parents and Staff
During the days leading to the start of the next school year, both parents and teachers feel the challenge of the transition. Bringing relaxation into this time adds a sense of personal power during the changes ahead. Following are five ways to relax as you move forward.
- Breathe- Anyone, anywhere at any time can make a conscious effort to control their breathing. Stop, take a deep breath.. in- out, slowly and deliberately. Nothing fancy, but very effective!
- Schedule time for you.- This may sound impossible right now. But once you think about it there will be that window of time, even five to ten minutes, when you can pause and refresh. Maybe it is time on your patio focusing on the flowers with a cup of tea in hand. Your choice may be putting on a certain CD while running a quick solo errand in the car. If you are really lucky a few hours or nights away to regroup before the surge of busyness hits will be your personal wellness jackpot. Whatever the time frame, you come out a winner.
- Cut yourself loose mentally. As the school year approaches every “shelf in the head” is full of detail. Who has the ability to empty those spots of worry, “to-dos”, “what-ifs?”. Seems that with a bit of mental flexing one can lift burdens from the forefront and replace that focus with guaranteed positive thoughts, ideas and dreams. Another option- take the same thought content and reframe it with a fresh viewpoint.
- Use each moment fully to give yourself a sense of mastery over your time. Yes this is a very busy time. For sure there is a lot to do. Add power to the process by being fully present to each person, while performing each task and while engaging in each situation that occurs.
- Go within for direction and strength. Wherewithal and wisdom awaits for the taking. Endless resources for good exist within our minds, memories and spirits.
Having a few strategies at hand helps ease the challenges ahead. A power fall to you!
