A MESSAGE FROM MARY MCGRATH

As I write this newsletter it is still St. Patrick’s Day. On this feast, many people, Irish or not, enjoy claiming that ancestry. What draws us to the Irish? Are we intrigued because the Irish are spirited, feisty, resilient, spunky, brave and have a “can do” attitude? Seems like just the qualities needed for work in education, parenting, ministry, caregiving and in business!

Let’s meet spring of 2003 with an “Irish” attitude!

Six Reasons to End the School Year Cycle with Energy

For some, the end of the school year is a time of fatigue and lack of vitality. After all, working since fall in the school has been draining! Parents gear up to support their children’s return home for the summer and the thought of keeping them busy and keeping up with their activity level seems overwhelming for some.

Whatever our roles in life, the transition to a new season brings demands and challenges. Meeting life’s hurdles with energy instead of fatigue makes a difference.

Here’s why.

  1. When worn out, one has less power and life’s responsibilities appear bigger than they actually are.

  2. Peers can catch your energy. When they do, this impacts your environment, giving their drive back to you.

  3. Energy keeps us well. Who wants to be dragged down with a spring cold?!

  4. Energy enables us to finish our work so we can enjoy the beautiful spring weekends.

  5. Staying organized and winding down the year by packing up in a paced manner leaves time to attend end of the year events - potlucks, retirement parties and picnics. Fun begets energy and energy perpetuates organization. The circle maintains itself.

  6. Being energetic activates a terrific transition into summer. Dive into life at the lake, your vacation project or catch up time with family and friends . Do so with vibrancy and enthusiasm.

How to stay energetic - diet , exercise, sleep, time management and a positive attitude. You will get through this and not just survive the end of the school year - but enjoy this time with boundless energy and a “spring in your steps” ...happy renewal season!
