PUBLISHED BY REFLECTIONS RESOURCES, LTD. Fall, 2002 A MESSAGE FROM MARY MCGRATH
Again the transition season has rolled around. As parents search for school supplies and shop for brown bag “packables”, teachers put up bulletin boards and write lesson plans.
This time of year brings excitement as well as stress. How are you taking care of yourself during the seasonal shift? Are you getting enough exercise and sleep? How about taking time to eat healthy foods? These few basics can take you a long way in making this a smooth transition back to school. Have a healthy one!
A Time of Leave - Taking
Do you remember gathering autumn leaves as a child? Did you search for the brightest and most unique and then bring them home? Taking leaves from the ground gives pleasure to many this time of year.
Fall is also a season of leave - taking in another way. Autumn bring us to the point of taking leave of summer’s lifestyle, whatever that has been for you.
What are you leaving behind as fall comes upon us? With school starting are you gaining more of less freedom? Will you have more or less time for yourself? Will you have more or less opportunity to pursue personal interests?
Will you be leaving behind quiet times in exchange for busier times? Perhaps you eagerly await more fulfillment once school begins? Are you grieving the loss of soul time so easily accessible in the summer?
Maybe fall for you is a 50/50 split between gain and loss. During the exchange of seasonal lifestyles, how can you bring summer’s best with you? Can you treasure what you savor about summer? How can you save what you leave behind through memory and reflection? That’s something to think about.
